The Diva Review:
If you really want to get to the bottom of a subject, hope that Frank Owen has wanted to also. Then hope that he's written a book about it. Owen tends to like to explore the seamier side of life and does so expertly and beautifully. I have to say it now - I love Frank Owen.
No Speed Limit is classic Owen. It's a well researched, very comprehensive look at the Methamphetamine culture, from its creation in the early 19th century, through its proliferation around the United States, to the terrible toll it takes on lives. What makes the book so interesting and so… dare I say, addictive… is Owen's ability to humanize the people he talks about and the need some feel for the drug. No stranger to drug culture, and even Meth, Owen can tell the story without any judgement. An accomplished storyteller, Owen is able to weave fascinating facts with people's experiences to make a truly compelling book.
Free of hysteria and moral judgment, No Speed Limit clearly outlines the problem but points out that Meth is just the latest drug epidemic in our seemingly endless war on drugs. There is a larger message and it is an important one.
